Greek food is one of my favorite types of food, so I was beyond thrilled when I saw a new Greek place was opening down the road from us in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Panagiotas Taste of Greece started as a food truck, and I had the opportunity to try it a few times before at the county fair. Each time I tried it, I always had a solid experience, so I expected to enjoy their restaurant. We were not disappointed!

Price $$$$ out of 5

The prices at Panagiotas Taste of Greece may be a little higher than at other places, but the quality and taste match the price. Drinks prices also were a little higher than what I am used to in our area, but I really enjoyed my drink. For me, I’m okay with paying higher prices for higher quality food and drinks.

Ambience 🧑‍🍳 🧑‍🍳 🧑‍🍳 🧑‍🍳  out of 5

I really loved the ambience of Panagiotas Taste of Greece. From the photos on the wall to the flowing, colorful flowers, you get all the Mediterranean vibes here. Also, its cozy because it’s not a huge space; however, there are many tables and a bar with seating. If you have a big party, though, I recommend calling ahead to ensure seating is available for you. For a smaller group, you should have no issue with seating. Finally, my favorite aspect of the ambience of the restaurant were the friendly staff. We were immediately greeted by the manager, and he seemed to take a real interest in our experience. Our waitress was also very kind and sweet. This left such an impact on both me and my husband and makes us want to return.

Drink 🍸🍸🍸🍸out of 5

I really enjoy Aperol spritzes, so I ordered Panagiota’s version, the Rockefeller spritz. It was delicious! It had the perfect flavor without being overly sweet. This drink was a part of their seasonal menu, so I’m not sure that it will always be available, but their signature cocktail menu also looked good with a lot of diversity. They also had a variety of beers.

I cannot rave enough about Panagiota’s food. To start, we tried the Flaming Saganaki which they do table side! It’s basically a wheel of cheese on fire with added oregano and pita for dipping. It’s a cool experience and a must try! The cheese is also tasty. They do wood fired pizzas as a special some nights, so we ordered the traditional white pizza. The pizza was solid, but the dough is a bit thicker. If you like fuller pizza, this is a good option for you. The flavors were great, and the garlic came through upfront.

The star of the show, though, was the gyro and Greek potatoes. When I say this is easily the best gyro I’ve ever had, I mean it. The meat tasted super high quality, the tzatziki was fresh, and the feta and pita really complimented it. I will go back for this gyro again and again. The Greek potatoes were also awesome. They were super thick and had a slight level of acidity. Finally, we finished it off with the lava cake. Although it felt like a crime not ordering baklava, this lava cake was heavenly. It was rich, moist, and everything else you want in a decadent dessert.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ out of 5

Overall, we had an amazing experience at Panagiotas Taste of Greece. The food and drinks were great, the service was outstanding, and the overall experience was top notch. We used it as a date night, but it would also be a great place to take your family or even friends. It’s always great to see new and unique places open up in our area, so we look forward to enjoying Panagiotas in the future.
