One of the biggest hidden gems in the Eastern Panhandle is The Pub, located on Route 11 between the VA border and Inwood.  This nondescript hole in the wall has really good food and a lot of charm on the inside.  Don’t let the exterior fool you – this spot is very clean and well kept on the inside.  It is considered a bar and has some slot machines, so only those that are over 21 years old are permitted to enter.

You simply cannot beat the prices at The Pub.  Everything is extremely reasonable.  While the menu is limited to breakfast, a plethora of hot dogs, and some other bar appetizers, everything is well priced.  Nothing will break the bank, and they even have a membership program where members can get a percentage off of their bill!

The Pub is very similar to the other local bars in the area, with a U-shaped bar, plenty of interesting decor, and slot machines.  This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and it is definitely not a place for kids, but for those that want a delicious, affordable meal, or a few drinks, The Pub is a great option.

Let’s get down to the food!  A family friend took us out to lunch, so we had four adults that ordered food.  Robbie ordered a chili cheese dog, and this thing was packed with chili and cheese.  She commented on how much she loved that they toasted the hot dog bun, and the weiner itself was deep fried to make it extremely crispy.  Each hot dog is served with chips, but there are options to substitute for fries, tots, etc.  Robbie’s mother got the steamer dogs, which instead of hot dogs had steamed ground beef as the protein choice.

Our family friend ended up getting the item he raves about – the chicken wings.  As a chicken wing connoisseur, I also got an order of six wings doused in the sweet chili sauce.  The wings were fried perfectly, they were extremely meaty, and the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet with just a little heat.  In addition, we got an order of bacon cheese fries to share, and the fries were actually seasoned with a spice blend instead of just tossed in salt.  I was a huge fan of everything I ordered!

Not only does The Pub have really great food, but they are very involved in the local community.  They are constantly doing charitable work to help the youth in our area, and I’m really happy that I finally got a chance to visit.  I will absolutely be going back to try their breakfast in the very near future, and I would encourage anyone who is in the mood for bar food or a good drink to check them out ASAP!
