One of our favorite local Mexican restaurants is Taqueria Guadalajara. It is the place that my husband and I consider to be the most authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. My husband is first generation Mexican American, and since we’ve been together, I’ve been lucky enough to be exposed to the delicious food and culture because of his family. When his mom approves of a Mexican restaurant, I know it must be legit! We’ve even taken his family members here, but I’ve also frequented it with friends as well. I’ve been here many times, and I’ve always had really positive experiences, from the food, to the drinks, to the service. Taqueria Guadalajara is a staple for my family.
Price 💲💲💲 out of 5
Taqueria Guadalajara’s pricing is slightly higher than other Mexican restaurants in the area. For example, you do pay for chips and salsa. However, the quality and authenticity of the food here is unmatched, in my opinion. Therefore, I am happy to pay slightly higher prices, knowing the quality of food I will receive. The options are also more extensive than other Mexican restaurants. Although the menu isn’t big, the types of dishes are very traditional and not as typical of other Mexican places.
Ambience 🧑🍳 🧑🍳 🧑🍳 🧑🍳 🧑🍳 out of 5
The restaurant looks very traditional, with bright colors, interesting patterns, and fun artwork on the walls. Although the building is not huge, there is a small bar, and several tables spread out among two rooms. It feels very homey and warm. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful, which makes you feel even more comfortable. Being exposed to Mexican culture, it feels right at home for us; however, the staff is so welcoming, anyone can feel comfortable. Overall, it’s a very traditional Mexican vibe – cozy, fun, and friendly.
Food 🥩🥩🥩🥩🥩 out of 5
I cannot say enough about how amazing the food is at Taqueria Guadalajara. I love my mother-in-law’s cooking, but this food is a close second. Everything is incredibly fresh, and the options are more like what I’m used to eating at family get-togethers than other Mexican restaurants. My husband has always told me that if a Mexican restaurant serves lengua, or cow tongue, then you know it’s authentic. Not only does Taqueria Guadalajara serve lengua, but they also serve sopes, which is one of my favorite dishes. Sopes are round, soft tortillas that are formed into what I would call a boat, a dip in the middle with a ledge going around it. Then, the middle portion is filled with meat, beans, lettuce, cheese, and crema. I typically order it with chicken, but you can select any meat you prefer. This is one of my favorite dishes from any restaurant. In fact, as much as I would love to order other things from the menu, I can’t pass these up! I have tried other things, like the tacos, burritos, and guacamole, and they are all delightful. I have also had the pleasure of trying their churros for dessert, which are served with chocolate sauce. They come out warm and soft and are the perfect way to end an incredible meal. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order from Taqueria Guadalajara.
Drinks 🍸🍸🍸🍸 out of 5
Taqueria Guadalajara has a full bar, but they are known for their margaritas. They have many flavor options, including strawberry, mango, watermelon, spicy, and so on. My personal favorite is a strawberry margarita on the rocks with a salt rim. It is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. I would recommend trying one of their margaritas; you can even select more than one flavor!
Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
I have always had a 5 out of 5 experience at Taqueria Guadalajara. Not only is it authentic, but it’s reliable. You know what you are getting each time. I recommend this restaurant to family and friends all the time and look forward to frequenting it any chance I can. It’s perfect for a night out with friends, a family gathering, or even a more intimate occasion like a date. I have personally used the restaurant for each of those things. If you haven’t had a chance to try Taqueria Guadalajara, what are you waiting for?
