We recently learned through a recommendation from our Eastern Panhandle Foodies group on Facebook that a local barbecue restaurant serves breakfast. This is one of our favorite spots in the area, so we were excited to try something new there! Their breakfast menu was impressive; they offer everything from breakfast sandwiches, burritos, omelets, as well as specialties, like brisket gravy and biscuits, brisket benedict, brisket hash, and a breakfast bowl. Everything looked good, so it was hard to select, but my husband opted for a brisket sandwich, and I chose the breakfast bowl with chorizo.

The prices were more than reasonable, especially once I saw the portion sizes! Mountaineer Meat Smokers does not skimp when it comes to the quality or portions. My breakfast bowl was $12, but it fed me for 3 days! The breakfast sandwiches ranged from $5 to $10, and the burritos were about $10. Overall, I was very impressed with the prices, considering how much I enjoyed the food and how long it lasted me.
Although the dinner menu and prices are different and we did not order anything from that menu this trip, in the past, I have always felt the prices are very reasonable. The quality and portion sizes for the dinner menu are just as impressive.

I really like the vibes and ambience at Mountaineer Meat Smokers. Although the building is in an unassuming strip mall type building, you don’t feel like that’s where you are once you enter. It reminds me of a barbecue restaurant you would visit in a city like Nashville. The walls are filled with memorabilia, pictures, and other eclectic items that all just make sense together. There is a small stage where live musicians can play to the patrons. There is also a fully stocked bar, with a great selection of whiskey and bourbon, as well as an outside and inside eating area.
Another thing I personally like about Mountaineer Meat Smokers is that you walk up to the counter to order and can pick your seat. It’s casual and laid back, which is great for both a family outing and a get-together with friends. My husband and I have also used this as a date night place before!

I honestly cannot say enough good things about the food at Mountaineer Meat Smokers. My husband raves about their brisket, so he had to try the brisket breakfast sandwich when he saw they had one. It was huge! He commented that the brisket was perfectly moist, but still held its shape.
I am a big fan of chorizo, so I was very pleased to see they had that as an option for protein! Not many places do. My breakfast bowl came with potatoes, eggs, chorizo, and cheese. I also added mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. It was packed with flavor and was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were crispy, and the cheese was melty. This breakfast is one of my top breakfasts ever. I will have a hard time ordering anything else from the menu the next time we go back, but I have a feeling that all their breakfast options are good.

Overall, we had a perfect experience at Mountaineer Meat Smokers. The staff was friendly, and the food was delicious and hot. We will be returning for breakfast soon, but also for dinner, so be on the lookout for another blog soon about that experience!
