Whenever we are in the mood for a delicious pizza, we always go to Taste Buds located right on the VA/WV border on Route 11. This has been our go-to spot since we moved to the Winchester area. As with any area, there are plenty of pizza shops to choose from, but we constantly find ourselves going to Taste Buds when we want pizza and other pizza shop items. No matter how many times we go, we never end up disappointed with our food. Consistency is the name of the game at Taste Buds.

The pricing at Taste Buds is reasonable and on par with your typical pizza shops. The one thing we love about Taste Buds is that they do daily specials. On Fridays, they do a large, 1-topping pizza with their “Sin-A-Dots” for only $17.99. We did this deal, as well as got another item, and we were able to feed four people for only about $25.

Taste Buds has a lot of character. Their physical location is always clean, and they have some really cool theming on the walls. It is bright and fun inside, unlike many pizza shops that solely focus on delivery and takeout. You can tell that the owners took the time to make the shop feel fun and inviting.

Now let’s get down to the food! The pizza that we got was a large pepperoni pie. The crust is thin and crunchy. There is plenty of cheese and pepperoni on each slice. My favorite part of the pizza is the sauce, which is so flavorful and hits on all the right notes of Italian seasoning. All in all, such a solid pizza, and enough to feed a family of four easily.
By far our favorite appetizer at Taste Buds are the Mozzarella Bombs. These are balls of pizza dough stuffed with mozzarella cheese. They provide a side of their delicious red sauce to dunk the bombs in. No matter what we order or are in the mood for, the Mozzarella Bombs are always on the list. Lastly, with the Friday deal, we got an order of their “Sin-A-Dots”, a sinfully sweet dessert that was enough to serve six to eight people. These balls of fried dough were coated in a melted cinnamon sugar mixture that made them sweet and sticky. They were a perfect cap to a delicious meal.

Overall, we always have a great experience at Taste Buds. They were slammed that Friday night, and since I had to wait a bit for my food, they offered me a free two-liter of Coke for my patience. This was completely unnecessary, but goes to show that the customer service matches the quality of the food. If you are in the area and are looking for a pizza night, I would highly suggest that you call Taste Buds (or stop in!) and get yourself a pizza, some Mozzarella Bombs, and some Sin-A-Dots to top it off!
