The Foodies team was on an adventure to find the best local steak and cheese sub, so we stopped in at King’s New York Pizza (the Rock Cliff Drive location in Martinsburg) because we heard their steak and cheese is a major contender for best in the game.  When we got there, we were able to secure said steak and cheese sub, but we also got another insane creation that is specific to this King’s location – the King Kong Stuffed Pizza.  I did not know what I was getting myself into with that, but I’m so glad that I did…

Price 💲💲💲out of 5

The pricing at this King’s location is pretty standard for pizza shops across the area.  While some of the prices may seem a bit high, the amount of food you get for what you pay is crazy value.  One pizza can feed you for at least three meals.  They absolutely do not hold back on the ingredients, no matter if it is a pizza, sub, entree, or the King Kong Stuffed Pizza.

King’s felt like a traditional pizza spot in most smaller towns.  It didn’t have the hustle and bustle feel of a true New York pizza spot (as a frequent visitor of NYC, that is not my vibe at all).  This is a nice spot to sit down and enjoy a meal without bumping elbows with a banker on his lunch break.  Everything was very clean and all of the staff was so pleasant and a joy to interact with.

Now the reason you are here.  Let’s talk about the food.  First off, our mission was to find the best steak and cheese in the area. I can’t say definitively, as there are a lot of entrants in this race, but this steak and cheese was definitely stuffed to the gills with meat, cheese, and veggies.  I know some people only want meat and cheese on their subs, but I am a huge fan of “the works.”  Not only did we get a heaping amount of lettuce and tomato, but they also cooked up peppers, onions, and mushrooms, which married perfectly with the savory chopped steak and melty cheese.  The flavor was on point, and the portion was big enough for two people to easily share.

I love when I can go to a local spot and try something that you cannot get anywhere else.  I walked in and saw the King Kong Stuffed Pizza and I knew I had to have it.  This beast was absolutely gorged with every meat in the animal kingdom, including pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, and ground beef, not to mention overflowing with gooey cheese.  The dough/crust was done extra well, which added a much needed crunch to all the savory insides.  I am shocked at how fresh this tasted.  Usually, size gives way for flavor and quality, but not in this case.  Be warned, this is at least a two person meal for even one slice, and my sincere best wishes to anyone who orders an entire pie.  The kicker, however, was the side of their creamy, slightly sweet marinara sauce they serve on the side.  It was the perfect flavor profile to cut through all that meat and cheese.  All in all, one of the best over-the-top food items I have ever tried.

Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5

King’s has a great reputation in this area, and I know there are a handful of them around the Eastern Panhandle.  I had actually never been to this location, but I’m so glad I was able to stop in and try not only their steak and cheese, but a fun additional item as well.  I would highly recommend (if you have the appetite for it) to get one of their steak and cheese subs or a colossal piece of the King Kong Stuffed Pizza.  Just come hungry!
