Yet another delicious stop on our culinary tour of the Eastern Panhandle found us at the Bakerton Market in Bakerton, WV. This spot isn’t only a restaurant – they also have antique items, household items, and even groceries for sale. But we came for the very interesting and eclectic menu, which featured some items we have never seen before. If that wasn’t enough, they also have their own coffee shop called The Shack that offers delectable drinks and sweets.

Price 💲💲out of 5
The prices are more than reasonable at The Bakerton Market. Sandwiches range from $7 to $13 depending on the ingredients and the size, and the pizzas are between $10 and $20 depending on size and toppings. They also have daily specials, including a Restaurant Week special that includes two jumbo hotdogs for $7.75, 15% off any pizza, and a Wafflogato (more on that later) for $8.75. With how quality the ingredients are, these prices cannot be beat.

Ambience 🧑🍳🧑🍳🧑🍳🧑🍳 out of 5
The Bakerton Market doesn’t only have great food, it also has an awesome ambience. There is so much to take in here, with all the different food, antique, and household items for sale. We loved all of the offerings and spent plenty of time looking around at what they have to offer. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect since the weather is always unpredictable! This place feels down home and the vibes are always good here.

Let’s get down to the food! The first thing we tried was the very unique glizzys baked in pizza dough crust. This is such a cool concept and it truly elevated the hot dogs to the next level. They have all kinds of classic hot dog toppings, but the soft, fluffy pizza dough makes each bite so unique.
Next, we had to try some of their sandwiches. We got the absolutely loaded Pastrami with sauteed onions, Swiss cheese, and Cuban mustard. This thing was meaty and juicy and plenty big. We also tried their daily special, a turkey bacon melt and a ham and cheese melt. Both were melty and had very fresh ingredients.

The star of the show was the homemade pizza. The dough was cooked perfectly, fluffy but still had enough substance to not flop over. It is a light but crunchy crust that pairs well with the savory ingredients. We got meat lovers and added green pepper. What truly brought this dish home, though, is the pizza sauce, with all the necessary Italian flavors coming through.

Lastly, we have to mention the insane Wafflogato. This creation seems almost illegal with how good it was. A liege waffle is covered in two scoops of ice cream, an Espresso shot, whipped cream, and chocolate or caramel sauce. This is meant to be shared with someone else, but if you want to eat it all by yourself, we aren’t judging!
