One of our go-to breakfast spots in Winchester is Granny’s. Owned by a family friend, this little hole in the wall is one of the best restaurants in Frederick County. We have been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but they are most known for their delicious breakfasts. Last weekend, we had a chance to go out to breakfast with family and like always, it was a fantastic experience.
Price 💲💲out of 5
The prices at Granny’s are very reasonable. Most of the breakfast items are between $10-$15 dollars, and the portions are plentiful. The most appealing thing about Granny’s breakfast, however, is their kid’s meal. They are about $4 or $5 dollars and they are unlimited servings! My daughter isn’t a big eater, but she will crush some bacon, and she can get as much bacon as she wants at Granny’s! They really take care of the kids here.

Granny’s is a fun little spot. It has all the charisma of a hole in the wall bar that are popular in this area. They have some slot machines, a bar, and outdoor seating area, and a stage that is used for karaoke and other entertainment. Granny’s is so good about doing community events and allowing local performers a chance to show off their talent. Anytime you go into Granny’s it is going to be a good time!

Moving to the star of the show, the breakfast at Granny’s is top tier. They have an extensive breakfast menu, from bowls to hotcakes to platters and omelets. I got the American platter, with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, extra crispy home fries, and two huge pieces of rye toast for less than $12! The bacon was crispy, the sausage was juicy, and I asked for my home fries well done and they did not disappoint. What a filling meal.
Robbie got the Scrapple platter, also with scrambled eggs, toast, and home fries. The scrapple was extremely crispy and savory. Another member of our party is completely gluten-free, and was accommodated with a Meat Lovers omelet that avoided any gluten products. A second member asked for french fries instead of home fries, and that was no problem to accommodate that request.
What really sets Granny’s apart, though, is how they treat Ralynn. An avid Disney fan, Ralynn asked Gary (the owner) if he could make her Mickey Mouse pancakes. What other restaurant can a child walk up and ask the owner of the establishment (who also cooks) for a speciality request? The pancakes came out perfectly cooked, and like I previously mentioned, she also got unlimited bacon with it. All for the mind-blowing cost of $4 dollars!
Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
It takes a lot to get the full five stars, but Granny’s deserves it. They are everything you could want in a small local business. They have an owner who actually makes sure the place is running correctly. He’s friendly and approachable. They accommodate special requests. They serve the community through events and showcasing local artists. And most importantly, they provide excellent food for a very reasonable price. Go to Granny’s ASAP and tell them the Foodies crew sent you!
I eat breakfast at Granny’s every morning! I’ve been coming for over 15 years, back before Gary remodeled the place. My wife and I love this place!
