After trying The Final Cut in the Hollywood Casino in Charles Town, WV for a special event, my husband and I were looking forward to going back for a date night. We finally had the chance to do that the other night, and it was an incredible experience! While we don’t go to fancy steakhouses often, there have been several occasions where we have tried these types of places, but they have almost always been in a big city, like Washington D.C., or on a vacation, like Myrtle Beach. So, to find such an upscale, delicious restaurant right down the road, it’s like we hit the jackpot. Charles Town and the surrounding areas offer a lot of activities, but The Final Cut is truly a unique and special experience in the area.

One of my favorite things about The Final Cut is the privacy. Not only can you not see into the restaurant from the outside, once you enter, it’s easy to forget that you are in a casino. Also, the booths are incredibly private. It feels very intimate and like you are the only ones dining in the restaurant. The serving staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and was even able to offer a recommendation of wine to my husband. You are really taken care of when you dine at The Final Cut. All of this to say, although it’s a great option for patrons of the casino, The Final Cut is also a destination for anyone (over the age of 21) who is looking for an upscale restaurant. While we went for a date night, it would be equally fun to go with a group of friends.

I didn’t order an alcoholic beverage on this trip, but the wine list was extensive. They had signature cocktails and beer, as well. My husband ordered a red wine that was recommended by our waitress, and he enjoyed it with his meal.
To start, we were brought fresh brioche bread with softened butter. The bread, which was soft and warm, had some salt on the top, which elevated it for me. For appetizers, we ordered the tiger prawns and the beef tartare. The prawns were large and fresh and paired with a cocktail sauce. My husband talked me into trying the beef tartare, and I’m so glad he did. Overall, it had a mild taste, but was paired beautifully with balsamic and cucumbers. I also ordered the roasted red pepper and tomato soup. I love roasted red peppers, so I could not pass it up. It was everything I hoped it would be! It was topped with cheese and a crostini. It had a rich roasted red pepper flavor, and I could not stop eating it. For me, it was my favorite dish of the night!
After the appetizers, our main courses were brought out. I opted for the diver scallops and my husband chose the medium rare filet. He also added bone marrow, which he really enjoyed. His filet came with a roasted balsamic garlic, which paired perfectly with the tender meat. For the scallops, they were presented over risotto. The scallops had the perfect sear and flavor, and paired well with the lemony risotto.
At The Final Cut, the sides are al la carte. We ordered the whipped mashed potatoes and the charred broccoli. The potatoes were fresh and buttery, but I especially loved the broccoli. It came with a cheesy dipping sauce, but I personally did not think it needed it. Each piece had that perfect charred flavor on its own! The manager was also kind enough to send out the elote and the mac-n-cheese. The elote had great flavor, but the mac-n-cheese really stood out! It was incredibly cheesy and was filled with flavor.
Finally, we ordered the chocolate layer cake and added a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Let’s just say that this decadent cake was big enough to feed several people. I think we were eating it for 3 or 4 days! Both the cake and the ganache were incredible. You may not be able to eat much of it in one setting because it is rich, but it was one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever had!
Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5
We’ve had the privilege to eat at The Final Cut a few times now, and each time I am impressed. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes and drink selections. The best part for me is that it’s so close to my house. I don’t have to drive to a big city to experience this level of dining. Although it may be a place saved for special occasions, I would encourage you to get out to try it when you can. You won’t be disappointed!
