Fresh seafood, upscale cocktails, and a classy vibe in the heart of a small downtown

We recently had family in town and decided to try Stoney’s; a place we had not yet been but had heard really great things about. Situated on a side street of Martinsburg (119 E Martin Street), Stoney’s has an unassuming exterior, but as soon as you enter the doors, you feel like you are somewhere special. The chic environment and elegant bar may be the first things you notice. Since we had a larger party, we did make a reservation, so the hostess was expecting us when we arrived. We were sat in the second room in a cozy booth, with some extra chairs to accommodate our party size.

A first of its kind in Martinsburg, WV.

It’s so exciting to see Martinsburg growing and thriving. More and more quality businesses are opening their doors, and Stoney’s is a perfect restaurant for this emerging small town. Before places like Stoney’s opened, it was easier to drive over the Virginia or Maryland border to find trendy, fun, and high-quality restaurants. Now, we have them here! Although other restaurants may serve oysters, there is no other raw bar in the area. And the same goes for a whiskey bar. So, if you are a fan of these things, support local and check out Stoney’s!

Drinks and Food.
I am a huge fan of orange crushes, a drink that was created in Maryland, by the way! So, when I our waitress told us that they were running a five dollar crush special, I was intrigued. The flavors included orange, strawberry, watermelon, grapefruit, and pineapple. I opted for the strawberry crush, and it was made with rum, rather than the typical vodka found in an orange crush. It was refreshing, strong, and tasty. I can’t wait to get back to Stoney’s to order this drink again! My husband had an old fashioned, the drink he orders at most restaurants, and he enjoyed it thoroughly.

Regarding food, we first tried the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms. These are always a go-to for me on any menu and these exceeded my expectations. You get five mushrooms stuffed with real crabmeat, with a complementing remoulade sauce. My husband also tried some oysters from the raw bar and commented that they were incredibly fresh and high-quality.

For my main course, I choose the Blackened Salmon. The Land & Sea options on the menu are a la carte, so I picked to pair my salmon with the Baked Brussel Sprouts. I always enjoy a blackened fish, but the seasoning on this salmon was perfect. The brussel sprouts were also very tasty; however, I would be interested in trying different sides in the future. My husband ordered the Lobster Roll with the Fingerling Potatoes and added Cole Slaw. He was blown away by the quality and taste of the lobster roll. The potatoes and creamy cole slaw were also solid pairings.

A perfect date night or girl’s night spot.

Although we had a great time at Stoney’s with our family, I am excited to go back on a date with my husband and for a girl’s night with my friends! My husband enjoys drinking whiskey, so I know he would appreciate the whiskey bar. He likes oysters, as well, so he would take advantage of the raw bar. I could also see myself sitting around a table laughing with some of my best girlfriends, drinking crushes or other cocktails, enjoying the comfortable environment and appetizing food.

Conclusion

Overall, Stoney’s was incredibly welcoming and accommodating to our party of 7, plus a baby. They were patient with us as we went back and forth over the drink and food menus. The drinks and food all came out quickly and accurately, but most importantly, everything was delicious. Next time, I would prefer to go with adults only, but visiting Stoney’s is doable and enjoyable with children. They also run a lot of specials, so be sure to check out their Facebook page to stay up to date!

The next time you have family in town and want to take them to a nice spot or want to impress a date, would you consider Stoney’s Whiskey Wine and Raw Bar?
